Crone Shawl

Project type

Crochet Shawl

Date

April 2025

Made with love, for a lineage of mentors.

My mentor asked me to create a shawl for her mentor — a symbolic piece she called a “crone shawl,” representing wisdom, transformation, and the sacred role of the elder woman. Traditionally, the crone is the final archetype in the triple goddess (maiden, mother, crone), symbolizing experience, intuition, and deep feminine insight.

To bring that meaning into fiber, I chose the Serrate Shawl pattern by My Crochetory — a beautifully structured design with movement and texture. I crocheted it using two skeins of Malabrigo Sock in the colorway Fresco y Seco, a muted, mossy green that felt rooted, natural, and timeless.

The yarn was sourced from my local yarn store, which made the project feel even more personal and grounded. The finished piece blocked out to a generous, winged shape — soft and airy, but full of weight and purpose. This is one of the most intentional and meaningful projects I’ve ever made.
